New Melones Lake

New Melones Lake

Official information visitors guide to New Melones Lake boat rentals and watercraft services located in Calaveras County in Angels Camp in California.  New Melones Lake was formed with the completion of a 625-foot high dam in 1979.  Enjoy the best in houseboating, jet ski, waverunners, and guide lake tours at this lake.  New Melones surpassed in size the Old Melones reservoir that had been formed in 1926.  It has becoming a wonderful recreational spot that it is today.  Fishing, hiking, and sightseeing are enjoyable for all ages.

The New Melones Lake is low boat traffic all year round, perfect for calm, relaxing vacation.  Several launching sights and ramps are available.  There is 12,500 surface acres of water (at full capacity), and 100 miles of shoreline insure plenty space for everyone.  Even holiday weekends find New Melones Lake much quieter that of other California Country lakes.  Campsites offer barbecues, water, campfire rings, and shower facilities, and do require reservations.
